MediaTel's Rep List Checks

From RAJAR Wiki

1. Load Rep List into database 2. Run scripts which reference all stations/groups/packages and associated RSL Codes with data we have for them on the previous wave 3. Create the following lists:-

a) Stations/Groups in Rep List that match our RSL Codes in database for previous wave

b) Macros that existed last time

We check these visually to decide if they can be created again for the new wave (this is a manual process as the macros do not exist in the Rep List)

c) Upweight Stations that are the same as stations already checked above

Please note:- upweights in J-ET are accommodated on campaigns by having a separate station, identical to the normal station, but called 'upweight'. We check these visually to decide if they can be created again for the new wave

d) Reporting Combinations i.e. 'All BBC'

We check these visually to decide if they can be created again for the new wave (this is a manual process as these do not have RSL codes in the Rep List)

e) Digital / Out of Area 'Stations

These are created as stations in J-ET to accommodate the way we create Groups and to allow for them being sold individually. We check these visually to decide if they can be created again for the new wave (this is a manual process as they do not exist in the Rep List).

f) Non-Rajar Stations / Split Transmitters

These exist for Trading purposes We check these visually to decide if they can be created again for the new wave - sometimes they cannot be added in exactly the same format as they are newly reported

g) Packages

We check these visually to decide if they can be created again for the new wave (this is a manual process as they do not exist in the Rep List).

4. All stations/groups/packages/upweights etc from the above lists are created using queries on the new rajar wave - ready for diary data to be created for them.

Any exceptions are removed from queries i.e. if a Non-Rajar station is now reported.

5. We then create two other lists:-

a) Stations/Groups that appear to be new as they are in the Rep List but do not match anything in our Database

We investigate each of these - unless we know they are definitely new i.e. GCap Media - Local Brands Total, as advised in the intro.doc. Generaly we find problems because of RSL code changes. We look into each and every one of these and why they have occured - what has changed and why. All problems today came from this process. Generally its because of changes to TSA, or Group compositions i.e. Century moving from GCap to Chrysalis.

b) Stations/Groups in our database that are not in the Rep List

We generally can check these by eye to understand if these can just be created on the new wave - as more often than not they are trading groups that aren't on the Quarterly Summary or Rep List, but need to exist for the Sales Points to trade. These will include the PC Planning Groups, and more that the Sales Points create.

Sometimes, however, there are stations/groups that need to be closed as they no longer report, or have changed composition etc etc.
